Vegas Engagement Album Spreads

Kathleen has put together some really awesome spreads for the engagement session that we photographed out in Vegas. Here are just a few of our favorites. I can't wait to see this book come fully together. It is going to be an 11x14 book which means opened up the spreads are a sweet 11x28. So much fun!!

A "KISS" for Maura

Our niece Maura is turning 1 this week and Kathleen & I thought of no better gift than an album with pictures from her first year that I photographed. We designed a KISS Album which just so happens to be my first KISS :). They really make a nice book and I am so happy to now be offering these albums along side our beautiful Kambara Albums. Here are a couple photos of the album itself which we had bound in the green leather. I will post some of the spreads from this album in a couple of days.

Monique & Chris' Engagement Album

The other day I received Monique & Chris' finished engagement album. When designing this book, I decided to have some fun and do something different. Monique & Chris didn't want the typical book for their engagement session so this is what I came up with. I made a 12x6 album with the binding on the top. The book is bound with beautiful blue leather and an acrlyic cover. This is one very cool book. Kambara is simply the best. Take a look!

Amanda & Brad's Engagement Book

For Amanda & Brad's Engagement Album I designed a beautiful AsukaBook Coffee Table Book. We offer a bunch of different types of albums. AsukaBook's are great for engagements, gifts, children or baby books as well as many other things. Here are a couple photos of Amanda & Brad's book.

Becky & Jon's Engagement Album and Mark III Custom Functions

This week Beck & Jon's Engagement Album came in and I have been so busy that I haven't had time to post some pictures of it. So here they are! Their album is a 10x10 Kambara Flush Mount with a silk and metallic cover. Absolutely beautiful!!

While taking some photos of their album I finally decided to dive in deep and setup my custom functions on my Canon 1D Mark III. I took the first photo below all the way up at ISO 6400 with the in camera noise reducer for high ISO function enabled. I used only available light. I was amazed at how little noise there was on the photo at such a high ISO. Simply amazing. I am going to play more and maybe I will have some more samples. This camera is certainly amazing!

Either way, I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!!

Carolina & Angelo's Engagement Album & RJT Studio Sample

Carolina & Angelo's Engagement Album came in yesterday while I was shooting Bernadette & Kevin's Wedding. I made a studio sample of their album as well to add to my album collection. The studio sample has a beautiful quarter bound stitched (shimmer bronze and copper graphite) cover. Carolina & Angelo's chose to have the very popular metal cover with a merlot binding. Both books are 10x10 and absolutely gorgeous and fine-linen textured paper . Here are a few photos of the albums.

The Album Process

So I should first start off by saying, I have been a huge slacker with my blogging. I have been so busy lately with so many things that I just haven't had a chance to blog. I will be sharing so many great things that I have been doing with all of you soon.

But first, many people do not know the work that has to be done to create a beautiful flush mount album like the albums that I offer to all of my clients. Other than shooting the actual photos at an engagement session or wedding there are a variety of steps that I follow to create the book. After we pick the photos for the album (something that my clients get to do - of course I also suggest which photos will work the best) I design the 2 page spreads and place the proofs online for client approval. After my clients approve my design, I electronically send my photo lab all of the spreads and individual page so they can be printed. I then receive the finished spreads. This is the part where I really get to see the book start to take shape. I layout all of the spreads and pages in order and make sure everything came out great. After I check and re-check I send the spreads and pages off to my album company for binding and anxiously await the finished album.

This is the time of year where I do the most albums. I have been working on many engagement and wedding albums and recently received the prints for Carolina & Angelo's Engagement Album. Here is a picture of all of the spreads laid out before sending them to Kambara (my awesome album company). I will be sure to blog more often. Happy Friday!

Donald & Gary's Album

I am so excited that Don & Gary's Album came in today. I photographed their civil union on June 2 of this year. Their album is a 12x12 Black Leather Album with Etched Metal Cover. Working with Don and Gary through the album design process has been great. I couldn't wait to get their album to them. They said to me the hardest part was not choosing the pictures but waiting for the production to be complete. Here are a couple of shots of the book.

Mom & Dad's New Album!!

So in a post from a while ago, I said I was taking the wedding album of my future in-laws and turning it into a brand new album. (To read the that post click here.) They have been married for 36 years now and as you can imagine through the years their album as aged. The photos for all faded and some damaged by dust and scratches. I took the original album pictures and scanned and corrected them. In addition I added photos that were not in the original album so that the story of their day could be told better.

The new album came out awesome. It is a fawn book with an Irish Celtic Knot inlayed tile. Kathleen (my fiance) and I are giving this album to them as a gift for helping us with our wedding, which by the way is on Friday the 7th!!!! Here are some of the shots of the book.
